You guys know I love a good sweet iced tea, but this is a step further.....
Lets look at drinking tea for your health-or as I say " Like your life depends on it"
There are a surprising amount of health benefits of tea, from treating nausea to boosting mental health.. tea really is good for you.
Over the past few years I have found a few favorites, these are the ones I can "feel" the benefits from-so to speak. I think my top pick is Earl grey for breakfast even though it didn't make this list.. Chai- Chai tea is compromised of a delicious blend of cloves, cardamom, fennel, and cinnamon all of which are good for you in different ways. In particular, cardamom is an Anti-emetic. This means it can form part of a natural treatment for nausea.. (the nervous kind) like if you're tummy is upset because you're about to give a speech or have a confrontation. Meanwhile both cloves and fennel are shown to reduce digestive discomfort in most people, there is also some evidence to suggest cinnamon helps our bodies regulate our blood glucose levels.
Lemon Balm Tea- While lemon balm isn't one of the most popular teas, its an amazing asset to people working with the laws of attraction. This is mainly because it has a way of increase our ability to focus, concentrate and promotes a good mood. This makes it a great day starter to set intentions or a great pick me up before you start a creative adventure.
Black Teas- This is a pretty broad area as there are so many variations of just black tea but they have some beneficial properties in common.
Specifically there are some fascinating studies (One being conducted at our UW Madison) that point to black teas ability to resist lung damage cause by being around second hand smoke. Black tea can also be a potent source of polyphenols, these are the compounds linked to boosting the health of the stomach and tissue. A single cup of black tea provides the everyday benefit of a potent caffeine shot, combating tiredness and helps our minds stay alert.
Peppermint Tea- If you want a little extra pep in your step but don't want to resort tot caffeine heavy drinks like coffee or black tea- keep in mind that peppermint tea is a natural stimulant that can help you feel more awake and alert. Peppermint tea is a known remedy for nausea, and for settling anxious nerves as well as calming stomach cramps and indigestion. I like to pair my peppermint tea with a good book, and my favorite mug. I add a bit of cream because I'm really nerdy like that, but you can add your own favorite goodies in too- a bit of honey, or a few fresh raspberries!
Oolong Tea- Oolong tea is partially fermented and contains both caffeine and catechins-which together enhancing our natural ability to burn fat. Studies suggest that oolong tea may help energy expenditure by 4% when consumed daily and promote oxidation of fat cells. Beyond just helping us to obtain a good fat balance in our bodies oolong packs the most benefits in the digestive health field.
